“Is the channel, a subsidiary of NBC Universal, introducing a new slogan that calls to mind President-elect Barack Obama’s campaign message? MSNBC says it is not. But the commercial, which began last week, stirred fresh complaints from the network’s critics.
…MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews was saying on the network’s morning show that he wanted ‘to do everything I can to make this thing work, this new presidency work.’ Defending his comments, he said ‘this country needs a successful presidency.’ Already, viewers are experiencing the power of opinionated news.”
Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live’s BiasChevy Chase on Saturday Night Live’s Bias
Chevy Chase, in an interview with CNN, tells the interviewer that he intentionally portrayed Gerald Ford negatively to hurt his chances for re-election. Chase went on to say that Sarah Palin has been the brunt of so many SNL jokes and skits for the same reason.
SNL Executive Producer Lorne Michaels claims SNL is not partisan. And, while Tina Fay as Sarah Palin parodies are funny, Palin seems to occupy a pretty lonely spot in the cross hairs of SNL. How much influence this has on voters is hard to know.
It’s a shame SNL’s Palin parodies seem to be malicious.

It’s a rainy day in Seattle. Conventional wisdom says that’s good news for the Republicans. Last time we elected a Governor in this state, the outcome was decided after three counts and only a few hundred votes. Local and national media covered the debacle for days. TV and Newspapers did their best to deliver the facts. Tempers flared on talk radio. Of course there was blog coverage, but there wasn’t really a ongoing conversation that voters could engage in about the developing story.
This election season, that simply isn’t the case. With the explosion of new social media tools that allow anyone to broadcast their views in real time and the tecnology to tread those shared views into conversations, it is a great year to for dangling chads, dead men voting and recounts.
Following are online tools and resources to follow and engage in the conversation around the election:
